Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Ascent Labs (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Snoozy mobile application (the “App”).

Snoozy is designed for parents and adult caregivers to create personalized bedtime stories for the children in their care. The App is intended to be used by adults aged 18 and over.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and password (stored in encrypted form).
• Story preferences: Details you enter to personalize stories (such as the name, age, and interests of the child the story is for, themes, characters, and story length). You are responsible for the content you enter.
• Payment information: If you subscribe, payment is processed by Apple via in-app purchase. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
• Communications: Information you send us when you contact support.

Information collected automatically

• Device and usage data: Device type, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, crash logs, and general usage events (e.g., a story was generated). We use this to keep the App working and improve it.
• Approximate location: Derived from your IP address, used only to set defaults like language. We do not track precise location.

Information we do NOT collect

• We do not collect information directly from children.
• We do not use advertising identifiers or sell data to advertisers.
• We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera unless you explicitly grant permission for a specific feature.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Provide the App’s core functionality (generating and playing bedtime stories)
• Maintain your account and subscription
• Improve the App, fix bugs, and develop new features
• Communicate with you about your account or important changes
• Comply with legal obligations

3. Third-Party Services

To generate stories, Snoozy sends the story preferences you enter to third-party AI services. These providers process the data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

• Text generation: OpenAI and/or Anthropic (large language model APIs) — receives your story prompt and returns generated text.
• Voice synthesis: ElevenLabs, Azure OpenAI Text-to-Speech, and Fish Audio — receives generated story text and returns audio.

We choose providers that contractually commit not to train their models on data sent through their APIs. However, we recommend you avoid entering sensitive personal information into story prompts.

We also use:

• Apple App Store for app distribution and in-app purchases
• Render for our backend servers

We do not currently use any third-party crash reporting or analytics tools. Diagnostic information (such as crash logs) is collected solely by Apple and is available to us through Xcode Organizer, subject to Apple’s own privacy practices.

4. Children’s Privacy

Snoozy is a tool for adults. Accounts are intended only for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.

If you believe a child has provided us personal information without parental knowledge, please contact us at support@ascentlabs.in and we will delete it promptly.

While the stories generated by the App are intended for children to listen to, the App itself is operated by the parent or guardian. We rely on parents to supervise their child’s use of the App.

5. Data Retention

• Account data: retained as long as your account is active.
• Generated stories: retained in your library until you delete them or close your account.
• Diagnostic data: retained for up to 90 days.

You can delete your account from within the App at any time, which removes your personal data from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data
• Object to or restrict processing
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than where you live, including the United States and the European Union, where our service providers operate. We rely on standard contractual clauses and similar safeguards for these transfers.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
